The BRT Trust is the controlling interest of Onyx Capital, which is the legacy of founder Bruce Tolchin. Bruce started the firm in 1988 and has been a strong advocate for the MHC industry since the early 1980s.

Bruce elected specific individuals from his life and the industry to sit on the board to make decisions that keep Onyx Capital growing and expanding his vision.

Since Bruce passing 2018, his ownership guidance has been transferred to the BRT Trust, which is a charitable foundation and controlling interest.

Peter Tripp

Peter is a partner at Onyx Capital and has 15 years of specific manufactured housing experience. He specializes in providing financing for MHC through various lending sources.

Over his career he’s facilitated in excess of $2 billion of mobile home community loans, overseeing mortgage servicing of $1 billion loan MHC portfolio. In addition to service industry, he’s personally an owner/operator of 1,000 MHC sites.

When he’s not closing deals, he’s enjoys surfing, diving, and spending time with his family.

Steve is a senior executive with over 20 years in commercial real estate financial services. He has a deep knowledge of both local and national markets, and strong networks of on-the-ground relationships.

With over $1 billion loans closed, Steve is responsible for overseeing Onyx’s financing execution, conducting credit analysis, and underwriting for commercial real estate loans.

Steve received a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California Irvine and is a member of the National Association of Realtors and a licensed California real estate broker since 2012.
